A painted picture (what is a painting?) with oil paint or acrylic paint requires many work steps due to its brainstorming and realization - the larger the picture to be painted, the higher the material and work effort and thus also the price.

In my studio, each oil painting and acrylic painting is calculated according to the expected effort required for its creation. For example, a technically complex oil painting can be more than twice as expensive as a less complex painting reproduction. The price is determined by the level of detail in the image to be reproduced, the size, and the material costs.

What influences the price of a painting?

The cost of a hand-painted picture depends on several factors:

1. Size / format
   The larger the picture, the more time, material and effort is required.

2. Technique & material
   Oil, acrylic or mixed media - as well as high-quality canvases, special paints (e.g. neon, gold, textured pastes) influence the price.

3. Motif & complexity
   An abstract landscape picture can be realized more quickly than a photorealistic portrait or a group picture.

4. Design phase
   If a preliminary drawing, color concept or digital sketch is requested, this working time is also included in the price.

5. Special requests
   Multi-part works, special framing or express delivery have separate surcharges.

How is the price of a painting calculated?

The price for a commissioned painting by the artist depends on the size of the picture and the details of the motif: a picture with a landscape often requires less fine detail than one with people in it. I can therefore offer you a commission for the reproduction of a painting at a lower price than a commission for a portrait with many details.

If, for example, a portrait painting is desired down to the finest detail, the commissioned painting cannot be realized within the price range mentioned. In this case, an additional lump sum will be added to the quoted price. Travel and accommodation costs are incurred for large commissioned paintings on location. Depending on how far away the location is, we will make an individual agreement. I ship small and medium formats by DHL & UPS. Formats from 120 cm side length by forwarding agency. Personal delivery on request.

Have paintings painted by an artist - fixed prices or work on an hourly basis?

As a commissioned painter, I offer you a painting realization at a fixed price. Included in the offer are: the estimated amount of work, the material costs and also the artistic idea.

All freely painted works of art are created by me by hand and are subject to copyright. Any form of utilization, with the exception of resale, requires my consent, unless legal exceptions apply. If the artwork is resold by the buyer, the buyer is obliged to inform the artist of the name and address of the new owner.

A hand-painted picture is a lasting gift for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays or business partners. I would be happy to advise you on this - e.g. with a neutral gift voucher or a stylish presentation of the original.
