From ZERO to NEW? ZERO to NEW? What does ZERO mean and what does NEW mean?

Why ZERO and why NEW? Does the NEW begin at ZERO? Does the NEW necessarily presuppose the ZERO? Does the NEW exist without a ZERO? Does the NEW have a right to exist without the beginning at ZERO? Where is the beginning and where is the end?

For me as an artist and entrepreneur and father of 4 children, I am always working on my reinvention. Capturing the NEW and starting from ZERO again and again fascinates me.

To create something NEW with every creative act. A boundless freedom. Anything is possible - anything can be painted!

For me, every picture and every creative period starts from ZERO to form something NEW.

I always find that exciting - the reduction to the beginning in order to create something completely NEW. Which picture has not yet been painted? Which style has not yet been invented? I find it extremely fascinating to start a painting in its purest form and let it go, only to start from ZERO again and again.

Of course, all pictures remain experiments and especially in a social context - driving a society to ZERO - after recurring lockdowns - that has kept me and my family, as well as my working life, very busy over the last 2 years. Somehow sad and exciting at the same time - ZERO people and ZERO cars on the street. ZERO cafés and ZERO traveling.

These pictures here today - are characterized by a strong abstraction.

Abstraction also means the concrete representation of the non-concrete - the possibility of leaving everything old behind us and starting something NEW - something completely unknown - something non-concrete. With the search we find a way - it becomes concrete. Then we start again from ZERO. The reduction to the beginning means a great opportunity - to discover NEW things and to develop ourselves further.

The pictures that are now hanging here from today until the end of September were created in the years 2017 to 2022 and are strongly characterized by pure colors and shapes.

Some have a certain stronger interest in blue - the newer pictures from this year are once again completely NEW experiments - in terms of color and form combinations. Always daring to try something NEW - remains the basic maxim for me in life and survival. To understand life and art as an experiment.

Thick application of paint - NEW created as if playing. Some have a reference to what I have experienced. Many are completely free and also attempts to reinvent myself and my way of expression. Happiness and strong colors are a strong motivator for me in these paintings. To apply the colors as brightly as possible and to show a partly wild and free reality with forms.

I have always been fascinated by the original and wild aspects of this way of painting, as they represent a very strong contrast to my otherwise often precise work as a commissioned painter. As what is now almost the best-known commissioned painter in Germany - or at least the most frequently found commissioned painter - I have been painting portraits, reproducing paintings and creating murals for many years. All over Europe for companies, industrialists, oligarchs, banks, advertising companies and private clients. Just to name a few.

All the pictures here are, so to speak, a little personal insight into the last few years of my creative work in my world as an artist and reinventor. And, in my opinion, they always fit in perfectly with the clear lines of the interior. They form a wonderful contrast to the straight lines of the furniture here at Kneisz.

Everything has already been painted, but everything only happens once, even in painting. And yet it always starts from ZERO.

All the pictures here may inspire - invite you to understand life as a game, to dare to do something NEW again and again. Just a week ago I was lying in the sun on the sea in the hot sand and thinking about how great it is - to always start from ZERO, reduced to the essentials - to be able to start something NEW.

Or to put it in the words of Peter Thiele: "Our task is to creatively create NEW things that bring not just a future, but a better future. In other words, we have to jump from ZERO to NEW. The essential step here is to think for ourselves. Only if we see our world with new eyes and learn to marvel again like the first humans did, can we create it NEW and preserve it for the future."
